Ok we'll start this post off saying that it was "ALL NET". Last night Katie's team faced their "Rivals" in their age division. They were tied in Second Place for the Season with them. Last night was the game to tell who went home and who continued on in the Tournament. Last night Katie was HOT on the court. She scored 15 of the 19 points that her team scored. She scored more by herself than the other team did all together. The girls really did want to beat this team and go on to play in the Semi-Final Game Thursday night! If they didn't win anymore, this one was the best of the year. Our girls defense was "Top Notch!"
Katie is playing defense in this picture. I am so proud of her....she only had 2 fouls this game. Last game she had 5 in 3 periods. Go get 'em Katie Bug!

Dillon has Art this year as part of his curriculum. He said from the beginning that he was not an artist...well....Mr. Young has an inner wall that he hangs good artwork on and an outer wall that he calls the "Hall of Fame" Wall. Dillon's black and white abstract made the Outer Wall the Wall of Hall of Fame!

Ok, let's see who can guess what it actually is.....I was told what it was before I got there and it really does look like what he said it was suppose to......post what you think....

January Snow and Ice Storm 2010

We decided to take a little "Road Trip" yesterday and wound up on Highway 8 on top of Harrison Ferry Mountain. Enjoy these beautiful shots!

While we were driving up, it started to snow more.....
and more.....

and lots more.....they had a ball in the snow....before we came off the mountain it had snowed about 1 1/2 more inches....

You'd died laughing at some of the things that they were doing underneath that sign.....

It is soooo peaceful up there watching it snow....

My kids wanted to know where the Old #8 was at....we found it.....no trouble.....even had to put her in 4x4 in a couple of spots

You're not suppose to go down Old #8 in the winter time, but some people were already sledding while we were there....

I love how the snow is on the trees behind the kids.....

Wonderful times!

And yes...back to Home Sweet Home!

I couldn't pass up on the ice that was on my Burning Bush......

nor the ice that is on the White Dogwood Tree......

And as cold and bad as it is outside, this is what we are enjoying.....blooming in my kitchen. Robin Bell gave this as a gift this Christmas....isn't it beautiful! Oh, by the way....my Plumeria tree that is in my bathroom for winter keeping....well...she shed all of her leave around Thanksgiving realizing the change of season....well she's putting leaves back on and we've got snow and ice. Go Figure!

Prayer Request

Please keep Mark, Ann, & Ashli Kirby in your prayers. They are our cousin's and they lost their home in the Jacksboro Community to a fire. Mark and Ann had already left for work and Ashli was asleep in her room. Mickey Ralph and his wife saw the flames as they were passing by and rushed to the door and was banging and yelling for Ashli to get up. Ashli barely made it out with her pj's, flip flops, and a sheet to cover her in. As she ran through the Living Room, it was totally engulfed. Just shortly after she got out, the entire house fell into the basement. The house is a total loss. They are blessed that God had his hand on Ashli, keeping her safe. Please keep them in your prayers!

I just can't imagine the emotions that Ann and Mark had knowing that Ashli was at home and it was burning! God is Great and God is Good!

God made plans for each and every little detail in our massive world! Gen. 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Sometimes we fail to see all of those little "details" he made. Today we would like to share somethings we are thankful for....rain, clouds, wind, little spots we can't explain, firewood, tulip bulbs busting from the ground, all of the different animals he created for us to enjoy, but most of all........we are blessed by the greatest detail.....Jesus!

Dillon and Cool Schools!

We have been waiting for the last few days, excitedly waiting for Channel 4 to come and let us show everyone why Warren County High School was selected as "Cool School"!

Early...........about 2 a.m. this morning, Dillon and I were up getting things ready so we could be out there early to help Pam Youngblood. We had all sorts of goodies that she had asked me to make and she had asked me to put together this HUGE basket we had for them. After I fixed the 4 delicious trays for the crew, I got my goodies for their gift basket together. I will put more pictures on when I get a chance.

The picture above is about 3:55 a.m. this morning. He and Mr. Bennett are presenting our wonderful new friend his very own WCHS shirt! Dillon was beyond excited. He was in one of the games and was the teen who gave Snowbird the HUGE basket.

Thank you to everyone who donated items for it! It was a MONSTER! We had Homemade baked goodies to Canned Garden Goodies to a darling Tea Towel to their favorites: Twinkies and Mountain Dew (we also threw in some Sundrop) to the MOST Precious Gingerbread Cookies the Special Education Kids made and decorated! Of Course I put the in the very front of the basket! To me....that was the best thing in there!

I will put more pictures on when I get a chance! The kids and faculty were awesome! Thank you to all who donated and who worked so hard to make today special!

A Happy Happy Birthday to John Ryan today! We are celebrating his 22nd Birthday!

He is pictured with his beautiful girlfriend/fiance' Kaitom (We call her Kadom....someone thought I had misspelled her name on a post from back in the Spring not knowing why I spelled it that way. Her Mother Kim calls him Junior! Go Figure!)

We are so proud of John Ryan....he was on the Dean's List 4 STRAIGHT Semesters and has only two more Semesters after this one before he is finished and graduated College! He will have degrees from two Colleges. He completed his first Minor back in the Spring and will finish his other Minor and his Major this time next year! Way to go son! We are sooooo proud of you and love you!

This year Shelby and Jessi hosted the Westwood Youth Group to a Costume Party Halloween Night. The kids had so much fun....he's a few pictures from the night.... Costume Contest Winners: L to R Macrae Thomsen, Kelsey Jones, and Dillon Tubb (& Toto hidden down in the basket)

They were so funny....they made their "Grand Entrance" singing the Wizard of Oz song...."We're Off To See The Wizard..." The three won a $50 Gift Card. Dillon was the winner of the Apple Bobbing Contest. He got 15 apples in 30 seconds. He won a $10 I Tunes card.
Trevor Moore and Katie are having a blast! Trevor is an ever so wonderful can of Sundrop and Katie is wearing one of her ballet costumes and she's a Twinkle Star....

Annie and Molly Wilmore are so cute! Annie was Daphne and Molly was Strawberry Shortcake. These two girls are the sweetest and are beautiful on the inside and outside!

We went to see Dr. Christofersen yesterday afternoon. He did several X-Rays and Thank The Lord it isn't broken. She does have something very unusual for someone of her age....she has Tendinitis in her hand and wrist. She has to wear a soft cast on it for about 4 weeks. We are so thankful for this. Please keep her in your prayers...

Yesterday afternoon Fall Break began for my kids. We are excited about having the next 10 days off from school!

The last few days have been absolutely crazy. In the last couple of weeks Dillon has received two letters from two separate Organizations recognizing his Academic Excellence. The first letter he received he was asked to study abroad in Europe with other students from David Lipscomb in Nashville. We have already been through all of the "junk" mailings when John Ryan was a High School student and "weed" through all of the junk mailings. He was extremely honored when he received this letter. He will be even more excited when he gets home today to read the letter he received in the mail. He has been invited to be a Student Ambassador in Australia the Summer of 2010. What a great adventure! I can't wait to see and hear his response!

Rest In Peace Auntie B

Our hearts have been saddened today. This afternoon, our wonderful friend Mona called us from Kaneohe, HI to give us the sad news that her Auntie B had passed away. Auntie B was 95 and would have been 96 in just a couple of weeks.

When we visited them back in 2006, we got to meet Auntie B. She reminded us so much of Auntie AhHow who lives in Virginia. Mona and Auntie AhHow came to our wedding back in 1985. Auntie B lived with Mona, Gordon, Leeya, & Scott. We got a hoot out of Auntie B and Grandma Fujimoto. They were a site together. We really got tickled when we heard that they went together by themselves to Vegas twice a year just to go to the casino's. Can't you see them now....one little Chinese lady and one little Japanese lady? (Auntie B is Chinese and Grandma Fujimoto is Japanese) When we visited, Auntie B fixed us every morning fresh baked bread, fresh papaya, and some of her homemade Passion Fruit jelly. Of course at night she and Grandma Fujimoto would have a wonderful supper fixed for everyone to enjoy together. We also got tickled at how matriculate Auntie B would have the house, inside and outside. It was spotless! She even swept the yard, the curb, and the street in front of their home. Nothing was out of place. All of the beautiful tropical plants were beautiful like they were in a botanical garden. It was funny to see her tell Liache (their Red Chow who lives in the house) to hush in Chinese. I can still smell the bread just fresh from the oven.....

Mona you all are in our prayers and we will miss Auntie B very much! We just wish that our kids could have met her and got to know such a wonderful lady.....In Hawaii, Mona & Gordon's kids called us Auntie Joy and Uncle John. They all are more than friends.........their our family!

"Good morning," said a woman as she walked up to the man sitting on ground.
The man slowly looked up.
This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life.
His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before. "Leave me alone," he growled....
To his amazement, the woman continued standing.
She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you hungry?" she asked.
"No," he answered sarcastically.. "I've just come from dining with the president. Now go away!"
The woman's smile became even broader..
Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm.
"What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone!"
Just then a policeman came up. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked..
"No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man to his feet.. Will you help me?"
The officer scratched his head. "That's old Jack. He's been a fixture around here for a couple of years. What do you want with him?"
"See that cafeteria over there?" she asked. "I'm going to get him something to eat and get him out of the cold for awhile."
"Are you crazy, lady?" the homeless man resisted. "I don't want to go in there!" Then he felt strong hands grab his other arm and lift him up. "Let me go, officer. I didn't do anything!"
"This is a good deal for you, Jack," the officer answered. "Don't blow it."
Finally, and with some difficulty, the woman and the police officer got Jack into the cafeteria and sat him at a table in a remote corner. It was the middle of the morning, so most of the breakfast crowd had already left and the lunch bunch had not yet arrived...
The manager strode across the cafeteria and stood by his table. "What's going on here, officer?" he asked, "What is all this, is this man in trouble?"
"This lady brought this man in here to be fed," the policeman answered.
"Not in here!" the manager replied angrily. "Having a person like that here is bad for business."
Old Jack smiled a toothless grin. "See, lady. I told you so. Now if you'll let me go. I didn't want to come here in the first place."
The woman turned to the cafeteria manager and smiled. "Sir, are you familiar with Eddy and Associates, the banking firm down the street?"
"Of course I am," the manager answered impatiently. "They hold their weekly meetings in one of my banquet rooms."
"And do you make a goodly amount of money providing food at these weekly meetings?"
"What business is that of yours?"
"I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company."
"Oh?!"
The woman smiled again, "I thought that might make a difference." She glanced at the cop who was busy stifling a giggle.. "Would you like to join us in a cup of coffee and a meal, officer?"
"No thanks, ma'am," the officer replied. "I'm on duty."
"Then, perhaps, a cup of coffee to go?"
"Yes, ma'am. That would be very nice.."
The cafeteria manager turned on his heel, "I'll get your coffee for you right away, officer."
The officer watched him walk away. "You certainly put him in his place," he said.
"That was not my intent. Believe it or not, I have a reason for all this."
She sat down at the table across from her amazed dinner guest. She stared at him intently. "Jack, do you remember me?"
Old Jack searched her face with his old, rheumy eyes.. "I think so -- I mean, you do look familiar."
"I'm a little older perhaps," she said. "Maybe I've even filled out more than in my younger days when you worked here, and I came through that very door, cold and hungry."
"Ma'am?" the officer said questioningly. He couldn't believe that such a magnificently turned out woman could ever have been hungry.
"I was just out of college," the woman began. "I had come to the city looking for a job, but I couldn't find anything. Finally I was down to my last few cents and had been kicked out of my apartment. I walked the streets for days. It was February and I was cold and nearly starving. I saw this place and walked in on the off chance that I could get something to eat."
Jack lit up with a smile. "Now I remember," he said. "I was behind the serving counter. You came up and asked me if you could work for something to eat. I said that it was against company policy."
"I know," the woman continued. "Then you made me the biggest roast beef sandwich that I had ever seen, gave me a cup of coffee, and told me to goover to a corner table and enjoy it. I was afraid that you would get into trouble... Then, when I looked over and saw you put the price of my food in the cash register, I knew then that everything would be all right."
"So you started your own business?" Old Jack said.
"I got a job that very afternoon. I worked my way up. Eventually I started my own business that, with the help of God, prospered." She opened her purse and pulled out a business card. "When you are finished here, I want you to pay a visit to a Mr. Lyons...He's the personnel director of mycompany. I'll go talk to him now and I'm certain he'll find something for you to do around the office." She smiled. "I think he might even find the funds to give you a little advance so that you can buy some clothes and get a place to live until you get on your feet.. If you ever need anything, my door is always opened to you."
There were tears in the old man's eyes. "How can I ever thank you?" he said.
"Don't thank me," the woman answered. "To God goes the glory. Thank
Jesus... He led me to you."
Outside the cafeteria, the officer and the woman paused at the entrance before going their separate ways...
"Thank you for all your help, officer," she said.
"On the contrary, Ms. Eddy," he answered. "Thank you. I saw a miracle today, something that I will never forget. And..And thank you for thecoffee." If you have missed knowing me, you have missed nothing.
If you have missed some of my emails, you might have missed a laugh.
But, if you have missed knowing my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, you have missed everything in the world!

a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother....As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter 'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then;
do things with them.' 'Remember that 'Sisters' means
ALL the women...Your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.' What a funny piece of advice!'

Haven't I just gotten married?Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!' But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned: THIS SAYS IT ALL: Time passes. Life happens. Distance separates. Children grow up. Jobs come and go. Love waxes and wanes. Men don't do what they're supposed to do -
Hearts break. Parents die. Colleagues forget favors. Careers end. BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles arebetween you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your lifewill be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life! The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much wewould need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

A Challenge To You.....

Please Pray For The Percy Borders Family....

Today after church, I received a phone call, one that I really hated to receive. I work with a wonderful man by the name of Percy Borders. Percy works at the garage where I work at. Percy has been haunted for some time now with the loss of his children. His children passed away in a house fire. Percy was divorced from his children's Mother. The children burned up in the fire. He has grieved his heart out. Percy took his life last night. He loved his children and missed them deeply. I can not image how he felt, but it will not be the same at work with Percy gone. Percy always asked me about my wife. He loved her as well. Percy loved her Ya Ya stories.

Our family along with our "work family" will greatly miss Percy. I think I will miss him the most. When I talked to him Thursday at work, he was his "usual self". It never failed, he always would ask me about my wife. They met a few years ago around Christmas. They hit it off immediately. I sure will miss my 'Ole Buddy Percy. He was a good one!

Please keep his family in your prayers.

Passing Of A Young One.....

Our hearts are saddened with the loss of Brad Dodd.

Brad was the 24 year old fiancee' of Tabetha Heffington. Last night Brad passed away without any warning on the way to his Mother's home in Hendersonville. Brad realized he was sick and knew he had to get help. Brad passed away before reaching help.

Tabetha, her family, and of course his family are at a loss. Brad had battled cancer and was a survivor and had gotten clean reports from all of his follow ups. They found out through his autopsy that he had a massive heart attack. His aorta was 75% bocked.

Talking with Tabetha today, she realizes that "You must be ready for that day." Knowing that she is talking about the day that God decides to call us home.

The Gold Ribbon™

The Gold Ribbon™ is the official ribbon of childhood cancer awareness symbol. It is endorsed by families of children with cancer worldwide, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, support groups, friends, caregivers, and treatment centers. The Gold Ribbon™ Campaign for Childhood Cancer Awareness was started in 1997 by Gigi Thorsen. She was inspired to launch this childhood cancer awareness campaign by the life of her daughter Kelsey. Cherish, remember and pay tribute to your child and all children who has or has had cancer by purchasing a gold ribbon and displaying it proudly.

Remember that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! We can "Paint The Town Pink" why not "Go Gold in Town and The Internet too"! Copy and paste the logo and help spread the much needed awareness of Childhood Cancer!

It has been asked..."Where in the world have you been?"

If we have received one e-mail asking....."Where in the world is your blog?", we've received a hundred. There has not been anything or anyone for any reason to cause us to delete our past posts.

We haven't been "surfing" the blogs very much lately. With all of our daily routines, we just simply haven't had much time for anything. We did take a long look and thought about a post that our cousin Paige Todd had on her last published post. Paige closed her page for lookers except family and friends who she only approves of. Paige and Dathan have two small children and they love sharing their pictures of their children just like we all do. Paige has a real legitimate claim.....there are alot of folks out there who just don't need to know everything that is going on in your life especially with your children. The internet is a wonderful place if you are there for the right reason. There are people who have an enjoyment of looking and reading about all of the wonderful things happening in your lives, but....there area really sick people who use the internet for other things......things that are just plain ole' wrong. We live in a time where sexual predators roam the internet freely. It is a sad world when we have to put a limit on things that we really would love for everyone to see.

We started our blog for our family members and our friends who live in other states and half way across the world......so they could see our children grow up. Maybe in the near future, when time will allow us, to set up a private blog for our childrens pictures and what's going on in our lives. If you wish to be put on that list, please leave a comment below and we'll make sure and let you know when we get it up and running! But for now, we are going to use our blogspot for uplifting quotes and scriptures and uplifting verses.

Please pray for all of the sick and the ones who have lost loved ones!
